Duality By: Al Ray
Why am I this way?
How can this be?
I am pain and I am numbness,
I am happy and I am sad,
True is my creed, but I live a lie,
Peace and torment are my right and left hands,
I am crazy yet I am sane,
I walk in light cloaked by darkness,
My poison is what keeps me alive
Why am I this way?
How can this be?
What I have hidden everyone should see,
I want the best, but do the worst,
I seek something I already have,
I remember the negative and forget the positive,
When the reverse should be what I do,
Why am I this way?
How can this be?
I hit the accelerator when I meant the brake,
I got forward when I should have taken a step back,
I am at my best when I am at my worst,
I ask questions to for answers I already have,
But those answers are questions themselves,
Why am I this way?
How can this be?
I concentrate on false dangers,
While ignoring the real threats,
I am shadow and twilight,
I am only one person,
But I exemplify humanity as a whole,
I am a Paradox that should be,
I am this way because that is who I am.
It is so because that's the way things turned out.
