The weirdest RPG cliffhanger. By: Al Ray

Introdution

This is the story of how a D&D 3rd ed. Group ended up turning their game into a game of Shadowrun. This was the last session before the break for summer and the events herein change the course of the game forever. The group involed were member of the Western Michigan Gamers Guild who game Friday nights on the campus of Western Michigan university. I most warn you that my memory of this event is incomplete and some of the players and characters names I cannot remember. Warning this is going to be a long winded.

The Group and Characters in no paritcular order(of which I remember, in some cases just the class and description):

Jeremy Ward, the DM a 15+ year veteran of RPGs.

Alan Ray(myself) playing Ishmel a CG human Cleric.

Tim Miller playing a LE Norse equivalent human Fighter/Blackguard with the ability to Rage and a Dire wolf mount.

Bryan Wilson playing Nenwoir, a CG elven Sorcerer who wields crossbows.

Shelly Kern playing a Kara a CN pacific healing Sorceress with a twin sister and a demon father.

John Mattson, ,playing a katana wielding CN rouge whose name I can't remember

Big Andy playing Fitzroy "Fitz" a LN Monk/Wizard who is actually a Physical Adept/Temporal Wizard converted from Shadowrun and who is a crimelord in his homeworld.

Little Andy playing Malhavic a CG elven cleric.

Josh playing Bilby a Dopleganger sorcerer who has the appearence of a blue hair green skineed human woman in a bikini.

A new guy playing a half-orc monk

Another new guy playing a Elven arcane archer NPC.

Brief background.

We were playing in a homegrown world created by a guy named Rich who was DMing a parallel campaign which this group was a splinter group of, but the original group broke up and Jeremy changed a few things. Basiclty the group is charge by a group of 7 demi-god guardians of this world called Orugas to gather crystals that corresponding with each of the Orugas and keep the evil wizard Nefarious form get them and ruling the world. The Oruga where for Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Darkness, Light and Nature and each had their own name but the group only knew Crimson(fire) and Knox(Darkness) personally. Nearly every member of the group had a brand that allowed them to call upon the Orugas for something which came out as a spell or even like a wish. The group is hunting vampires allied with Nefarious when one of the come upon a goat that grants a wish to who even catches it, The goat is in fact one of Nefarious's general, a Githyanka psion and a random person near the area of the wisher will be teleported to Nefarious's throne room. Also one who wish around the "goat" will get there wish and a person will be teleported. Well on the way to a vampire castle this very thing happened.

The Event.

The party was headed tword the castle of some vampire allies of Nefarious. Well the new guy playing the arcane archer tried to kill off an annoying NPC and invariantly made a wish. The person who was transported was Fitzroy, who was the most powerful person in the party. Well he was transported to Nefarious lair. He found out that Nefarious was a Pharremm(from MC Mosters of Faerun) Lich and that he was surrounded by Nefarious's generals. The generals where a karken floating in a giant bubble of water, an Efreeti, a Githyanka Psion(who was the goat) a high level fighter called the Wolf knight(who was a repeat antagonist of the party and the lead vampire. Nefarious gave an atypical version of the villain, "Join me, or die speach." Fitz tried to use his temporal powers to get out of there by freezing everyone there, but due to the fact that in the D&D world they where unreliable he froze himself and everyone else in the area of the castle. Luckly, his mind still work. He tried to use the brand of the Orugas to get out of there. At the exact same time the Malhavic tried using the his brand to sent everyone who opposed Nefarious to where Fitroy was. Like a wish he got more than he bargained for. The people who where opposing Nefarious include the party, a whole nation of elven, a nation of surface drow with a avatar of Lloth, a great wyrm Gold dragon, a nation of Norse equivalents, Diablo(yes form the video game) with is two brothers and their armies, a group of dwarven refugees, all seven Orugas, Kara's demon father and twin sister. This HUGH amount of people couldn't possible fit into Nefarious's throne room, but to the nature of the simultaneous use of the brands all the teleported people found themselves on a feturless plain and the group that hated each other started a huge war and the pary was on the outskirts. Fitz still had his stalemate with Nefarious ,but now with the mother of all headaches. If you havn't guessed already everyone who opposed Nefarious was in Fitzroy's mind. Fitzroy then tried to use his temporal power again to get himself back home to Shadowrun's Earth year 2060. Do to the time freeze it worked. Now he was in his Luxury level apartment when he got a call from Dunkelzahn(don't ask me how he is still alive, but somehow in Jeremy's version of Shadowrun he is) with the mother of a headaches. The dragon soon hung up to let Fitz get some rest. Meanwhile the party was watching the war when my cleric, Ishmel had a brilliant idea and use dimension door to get out of there/ A hole opened in Fitzroy's head and Ishmel poped out and grown back to full high fully arnored. Imagain the Greek myth about Athena's birth and you get the idea save Fitzroy started bleed form the hole and used the Monk power wholeness of body and zip, Ishmel got sucked back into Fitzroy's head. Then Kara use rope trick. Fitzroy now had a rope sticking out of his head from which the party and Kara's father and sister came out all permanently this time. After the rope disappeared Fitzroy use his powers to, which work fine at his home world, to sent those who were in his mind back from whence they came. The party looked at the new surroundings and the rouge and Ishmel when out to the balcone. The rouge was overcame by what he saw, but Ishmel was not and spotted some Shadowrunners trying to break in. He when back in and told Fitzroy and Fitzrit Hellblasted them into oblivion. Then the session ended, which was the last til the fall. So how is that for the weirdest cliffhanger for a RPG. Now we will have a group of D&D adventurers in Shadowrun lead by a local crime boss. I just can't til fall when we convert our characters and start playing Shadowrun with them.
